I’ve been training with Spencer for over six years, and in that time, he has completely transformed my approach to exercise. I was always a keen footballer and runner but suffered from recurrent injuries, limited upper body strength, and poor flexibility. I had tried several personal trainers before but always felt they were going through the motions, with no genuine investment in helping me achieve my goals. After a few sessions with Spencer, I knew he was different.

He has a passion for what he does, reflected in the meticulous detail he puts into bespoke programmes, which are individually tailored to help me achieve my goals, rather than the generic programmes that had hindered me in the past. His knowledge of anatomy and exercise is second to none, and he has armed me with an understanding of correct technique and form, which will stay with me for life.

As someone who works away a lot, I needed a trainer who could not only get the best out of me in person but also motivate, update and adapt programmes ‘remotely’. Spencer’s outstanding communication and commitment make it possible for me to stay fit, even if I can’t get to the gym in person for a few weeks.

To top it all off, Spencer is a great guy to work with. He is firm but fair, and everything is done with a sense of humour which makes me genuinely look forward to going to the gym – not something I ever thought I would say.

I started training with Spencer back in 2012 in a bid to lose some stubborn unwanted fat and generally tone up. What I achieved with Spencer’s help was far more than this. I used to hate going to the gym, and somehow he managed to turn that around in a short space of time and turned the gym into a place I wanted and needed to be at least a few times a week.

I have learned so much from him. My overall strength and fitness have improved significantly, and I can now perform exercises I would never have dreamed of attempting.

I was first introduced to Spencer through a friend in 2010. I had done the occasional trial session with other PTs, but their style never suited me, and I was slightly intimidated by the whole thing! I went to the gym but stuck to the cardio machines and would attend a group class once in a while.

We started with sessions in pairs, and I immediately found the hour together extremely rewarding. Spencer’s relaxed style put me at ease. The sessions were very challenging but always enjoyable and varied. Spencer helped us with the routine of going to the gym regularly, providing sessions to follow outside of our time together. He understands the challenges of the London life balance and makes keeping fit achievable. I can genuinely say that Spencer makes going to the gym a fun experience. Even when I am not scheduled for a session with him, there is always a friendly face of encouragement to greet and guide you on your upcoming workout. Spencer was my PT for around five years, and he was fantastic. Not only did he push me to achieve during sessions (a feat he'd nicknamed me 'professional rester'), but he also held me accountable and checked in on what else I was doing when not training with him. He is a stickler for time - don't be laaaate! - but that only works in your favour as you will get the most out of your session. If you don't like something, as in really don't like it, he will find an alternative for you (but not if you're just being lazy). He is also very supportive and encourages you to achieve what you want. Whether you can train one session a week or two or three, Spencer will ensure your sessions are designed to get the most for you – he thinks ahead and plans to get you what you want. Moving back to Australia was challenging for many reasons, but one was because I couldn’t fit a South African human into my suitcase!!

I have been training with Spenny for eight years, and he was recommended to me by a close friend. I never thought I would need a PT as I was a self-motivator in the gym and exercise. When I started to see the positive impact his training had on my friend physically and mentally, I had to give it a go. My training with him began on my 25th birthday when I went along for my first session, and I have never looked back since!

My fitness journey started with the attitude that I must ‘exercise’ to burn calories because of my weekend sins. I was always on a ‘diet’ and believed that diet and exercise had to be complicated to work. Now, I don’t even recognise that person anymore. I’ve been training with Spencer for about eight years, starting when I lived a short walk from the gym where he worked. Since then, I’ve moved twice and am much closer to other gyms, but I have never considered working with another personal trainer because I don’t believe there is anyone better.

My goals have changed over the years, and our training sessions have adapted to suit those. This is one of Spencer’s great strengths; he understands the goals you’re trying to achieve and uses his experience to get you there.

If you want to spend your PT session doing three sets of 10 reps of each exercise, you’re better off with someone else. If you want to do cool and creative stuff tailored to the capabilities that are way better for you and more effective, then Spencer is your man. PS, do not, under any circumstances, turn up wearing a cap, sunglasses or any type of fluorescent clothing – he will rip the piss out of you!

Thanks to the varied and tailored workouts and not to mention my library of exercises Spencer has provided, I can genuinely say that I have achieved fitness levels and aesthetics I would not have achieved on my own.
